I would add 3 additional ways that recruiting has been successful in our parish. 1. I attend every weekend Mass for a few weeks observing those I see frequently and asking the Holy Spirit to show me those who I should approach. 2. Get to really know the parents in your sacramental prep programs. As needs arise later I know those who have shown a passion for and comfort with their faith as well as the ability to lead in small discussions. Depending upon whether or not you do family activities as part of your program you may also get a chance to see their parenting style in action. 3. Ask your current catechists who they recommend. Some of my best new catechists have been recruited by their more experienced peers.
